Prom: The Biggest Fashion Show in High School

When it comes to High School, every day can be a fashion show, however, probably the biggest showcase of peoples' style is Prom, where everyone is dressed to impress, an occasion that I always found invigorating! This year my senior prom was a "masquerade" and since I struggled with finding a mask I decided to make my own, I was very happy with how it turned out!

When I went shopping for a dress for my Senior Prom I was surprised at how shops that specialized in dresses for special occasions had a very limited selection of dresses. It was pretty difficult for me being smaller in size(yeah I know skinny girl sob story, but hear me out!)to find a dress that fit correctly. Most dresses I tried on in boutiques looked very baggy on me and were very unflattering. I don't know if they were sold out of small sizes or just never had them in stock. Many dresses were also covered in bling or animal print and I felt kind of insulted that dress makers think that those dresses are an accurate representation of what girls my age would wear on a night where they want to look their most beautiful. All in all I was not impressed. Where were all the classy, elegant and unique dresses?? Well, surprisingly, I happened to find many of them, including my Prom dress, at Dillard's.

Before the actual dance there was "The Grand March" Where everyone is announced and then they walk around in front of the people who came to watch, much like an actual fashion show. It was very exciting to see everyone all dressed up showcasing their different styles. There were people wearing princess ball gowns, flirty short dresses, sexy mermaid style gowns, some vintage hollywood looks and many, many others.  I thought my dress represented me perfectly, it was feminine, classy and just a little different.

Prom is the perfect end to the school year and an
amazing chance to showcase your individual style
and to just have fun! My dress was a strapless nude
high low dress from Dillard's! I really recommend
looking for your Prom dress at department stores
rather than boutiques. Usually there is a better
selection, a range of sizes and they are much,
much cheaper! I hope you enjoyed your Prom!

Love,

Michelle
