Back to School Again!

As many people of 18 years of age do, I am about to begin my first year of college. I am not sure what to think of it yet. I am excited to embark on this journey of self discovery and higher learning but also afraid. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" is a question that often taunts me. The idea of having to choose what I want to do for a living is absolutely terrifying to me. Not because I have no idea what I want to do but because I want to do so much! I have so many passions that I could carry out into many different careers, art, fashion, music, languages, film, theatre, teaching, writing... these are all things I have interest in and it frightens me to think of having to choose only one of them. For now I guess I'll just work on being happy when I grow up, because happiness is truly priceless.

Ready to go back to school?

My high waisted shorts are from Forever 21.
I ordered my Oxfords from Amazon.com! They
can be worn throughout the entire year!

I really like this look for back to school, it is cute
and very comfortable too!
My polka dotted collared shirt is from
TJ Maxx!

Going back to school usually is something most people dread,
switch it up this year by thinking about what you're looking forward
to! Whether it be seeing your friends, taking a fun new class or
wearing that new pair of shoes that desperately want a day out!
Whatever it is there's always something.

Love,

Michelle

Summer Style

I think that summer is one of the best times for Fashion. Don't get me wrong I adore big sweaters and boots as much as the next clothes enthusiast but there is something really quite special about being able to put on a dress, a few accessories and having your outfit be complete.

The little rainbow by my foot really makes the
best of all accessories!

My dress is from Forever 21 and my bag is
from Primark.

I purchased these adorable sandals at a street
fair in Aix en Provence, France.

This lovely bow bag goes with everything!
Such a great purchase.

My bow is from Wet Seal and my smile was given
to me by the summer :)

I truly loved this summer, it had its ups and downs
but I like to believe everything happens for a reason. I think summers mark important stages in our lives whether they be the smallest of things like learning how to swim or even greater things like falling in or perhaps out of love. If you made a timeline of all the summers you can remember I believe you will find an incredible metamorphosis. All I know is that mine is not over yet. Not even close.

Love,

Michelle

Prom: The Biggest Fashion Show in High School

When it comes to High School, every day can be a fashion show, however, probably the biggest showcase of peoples' style is Prom, where everyone is dressed to impress, an occasion that I always found invigorating! This year my senior prom was a "masquerade" and since I struggled with finding a mask I decided to make my own, I was very happy with how it turned out!

When I went shopping for a dress for my Senior Prom I was surprised at how shops that specialized in dresses for special occasions had a very limited selection of dresses. It was pretty difficult for me being smaller in size(yeah I know skinny girl sob story, but hear me out!)to find a dress that fit correctly. Most dresses I tried on in boutiques looked very baggy on me and were very unflattering. I don't know if they were sold out of small sizes or just never had them in stock. Many dresses were also covered in bling or animal print and I felt kind of insulted that dress makers think that those dresses are an accurate representation of what girls my age would wear on a night where they want to look their most beautiful. All in all I was not impressed. Where were all the classy, elegant and unique dresses?? Well, surprisingly, I happened to find many of them, including my Prom dress, at Dillard's.

Before the actual dance there was "The Grand March" Where everyone is announced and then they walk around in front of the people who came to watch, much like an actual fashion show. It was very exciting to see everyone all dressed up showcasing their different styles. There were people wearing princess ball gowns, flirty short dresses, sexy mermaid style gowns, some vintage hollywood looks and many, many others.  I thought my dress represented me perfectly, it was feminine, classy and just a little different.

Prom is the perfect end to the school year and an
amazing chance to showcase your individual style
and to just have fun! My dress was a strapless nude
high low dress from Dillard's! I really recommend
looking for your Prom dress at department stores
rather than boutiques. Usually there is a better
selection, a range of sizes and they are much,
much cheaper! I hope you enjoyed your Prom!

Michelle

Today's Fashion Haul!

Today I went shopping with my Aunt who came to visit us from Chile as a surprise. She wanted to pick some things out to bring back to my cousin and I thought I would take my aunt to the mall today to see if we could find things for her to bring back to Chile.

I new I was in danger when I walked into Wet Seal and I saw that the dresses were 25% off!
I ended up getting two dresses at Wet Seal (the ones in the picture) and I was absolutely in love with both of them! The coral colored dress is a maxi dress but the lining stops at the knee and has little holes in it, kind of like netting. The blue one is knee length and has spaces for skin to show on either side, they were both so original and perfect for summer!

I also got two pastel colored sunglasses with a gold heart on either side of them. They were two for ten dollars, so I couldn't resist! Wet Seal is starting to grow on me now....
We then went to Victoria's Secret where I got two pairs of panties for FREE! How is this so, you ask? I  get coupons in the mail from Victoria's Secret that I think are from signing up for Angel Rewards or something.

Our last stop was at Icing where I got two gorgeous necklaces for twenty dollars! I kind of went crazy today... I usually don't do things like this but I just couldn't resist and it's good to splurge once in a while!

Michelle

The Best Time to Wear a Striped Sweater

Last week I went to the mall to pick up some take-out from Noodle Express and my sister and I could not help but glance in a couple of stores while we were waiting for our food. We went into American Eagle and as always they racks and shelves full of adorable things. I wanted to buy them all! Sadly American Eagle usually has pretty unreasonable prices, at least for a job-less student like me. I usually don't like spending a lot of money on clothes, I know it's bad but I would much rather have quantity then quality (if the quantity i am buying is full of cute things!).

We then wandered into Wet Seal, which usually is not really my style, and bam! There were some really gorgeous spring dresses at the front of the store. Of course me, being the cheap spender that I am, rushed to the back of the store to look at the sale racks and my sister happened to find an adorable striped white, blue and pink sweater on sale half off of the sale price. She graciously let me have it and when I calculated the numbers in my head, I found the price of the sweater to be an unbelievable $7.50.  Let's just take a moment to let this sink in....I could not believe it! Whenever I (or in this case my sister) find an amazing deal like this I feel like I'm an explorer and I have just made a glorious discovery.

Tonks is my modeling companion!
Sweaters and cats are two of my most
favorite things in this world :)

My collared dress is from Forever 21.

I ordered these Oxfords from Amazon.com
and I think they spice up an outfit perfectly.

Enjoy your sweater weather!

Love,

Michelle

Where to Find Inspiration?

Sometimes you feel so inspired by everything around you, by the leaves falling off the trees, by the squeaking of new shoes in the school halls and sometimes even by a person's Facebook post, even if you don't really like them. On the other hand there are times when you just can't feel inspired by the little things in life and you have to take drastic, ok maybe not so drastic, measures.

Whenever I can't seem to come up with ideas for outfits and I am uninspired by fashion I have different websites that usually bring the inspiration right back to me. There's Lookbook, which I wrote about in my previous post. A community for fashionistas to connect and share the outfits they have been wearing lately. There is also Pinterest, my personal favorite, not only does it give me ideas in fashion but in every other category as well. If you have not been on Pinterest before, I suggest you give it a try when you need a little inspiration or when you are just dreadfully bored. And then sometimes I check out fashion and beauty youtubers like Bethany Mota also known as Macbarbie07. She sometimes does "haul" videos where she shows you all the clothes that she has bought and believe it or not, it is very entertaining to watch and can inspire you to try a different style you may otherwise have not given a chance.

I hope you find your inspiration!

Michelle

Lookbook

Lookbook has been an obsession of mine for a couple of years now, but I just recently got back into it. If you have not heard of Lookbook before, I suggest you check it out because it is a great way to get inspired by fashion. These photos are from a photo shoot I had with my sister and I posted three of them on my lookbook page (I will post the link to my page below). It was a great way to bring in the springy weather we were having that day. P.s I am very impressed with my jumping abilities! ;)
My skirt is from Forever 21 and my sweater is from Old Navy.

Strike a pose!

I slightly resemble a pirate when I pose like this...

My headband is also from Forever 21!

Don't forget to smile! :)

Hmmm...does serious work for me?

My favorite picture from this shoot!
